It’s almost time to put away the backpack and the books. Summer is a time for kids to have fun, enjoy friends and explore their talents. This summer, give your son or daughter all of that in one place – Guitar Camp at the School of Rock Music.

Whether your child is new to the guitar or has been playing for several years, Guitar Camp at The School of Rock will have them jammin’ like never before. And the kids on the block will be calling YOU the “cool mom and dad.”

New guitarists will learn:

* Basic chord progressions and strumming patterns

* Music theory

* How to put it all together into rock n roll songs

Advanced guitar students will learn:

* Diatonic chords and progressions

* The art of shredding

* Arpeggios and sweep picking

What's Your Kid Doing This Summer?

Looking for the coolest way to learn to play the guitar? We've got the perfect guitar camp for you. The School of Rock Music's Summer Guitar Camp offers options for both Beginners and Intermediate. Our guitar camp teachers are all successful working rock musicians who want to have fun right along side of you.

Beginner Guitar Camp is for kids 8 – 15 years old who have been playing guitar for less than one year. Even if you0ve never picked up a guitar before, by the end of the week you’ll be crankin’ out tunes. No “lets learn the notes before we play” approach. At School of Rock even beginners play tunes from classic rock bands like Guns N Roses, Black Sabbath, Bob Dylan, The Ramones and several others. If you have a favorite song you want to learn, our teachers will take great pride in teaching you how to play it.

Advanced Guitar Camp is for students ages 8 – 18 who have had guitar lessons in the past and want to be challenged in their playing ability. Bring your “A-Game” and be prepared to work hard. This is for the die-hard guitar players.

For each of these programs you’ll need to bring an own electric guitar, a favorite pick and a comfortable guitar strap. We'll supply everything else you need to begin your career as a rock star. (Be sure to pack a lunch as well. We have a fridge and microwave available.)

Both of these programs are one week long and are available at two convenient locations in the Twin Cities.
